March is upon us! We continue to welcome a wide variety of folks to the Glen retreat lodge and the lake house at Sunrise Point. The beauty of both spots does a lot of soul care for our guests before a word is spoken! As you may have noticed, I’ve posted a few pics on Instagram @experiencerealityinc

UPCOMING EVENTS

Reflections Study: I’m happy about the signs of spring, but it’s always a little sad to close up the fireplace. I can’t tell if the weather for our upcoming first-Wednesday-of-the-month Reflections Study will be conducive to a fireside chat or not. Regardless, I hope you’ll join me next Wednesday, March 4^th from 5:15-6:15. No homework or previous attendance required, just come ready to read silently a one page theological excerpt and discuss it (we will have a final excerpt from CS Lewis’ Miracles). RSVP here

Sharing on Caring: On March 7^th at 10am Caroline Ryskiewich, CEO of Twined, will lead a workshop “Sharing on Caring: care management & creative companionship for older adults and their families.” If you are caring for an aging adult, might potentially be, if you have cared for someone in the past, or even if you want to learn about the topic, please come! This is an arena where our community needs to pull together to share hard questions, best practices, and insights.

Day Retreat: Even though reservations for March 14 are closed, I wanted you to know about the event we are sponsoring because it represents the type of thing we want more of at The Glen - a bringing together of so-called social issues and the practice of contemplation. Afrika Afeni Mills will be leading “Sowing the Seeds of Shalom,” a day-long session for adults of diverse racial identities who long for deeper healing around race, faith, and belonging. Along with being an award-winning author, Afrika is a sought-after spiritual director. Even if you’re not attending the event, Afrika may be someone you want to follow!

In spite of the icy forecast, we had a good turn out on January 24^th for our first Theology Matters event (pictured below). Tiffany Elder inspired us to think intentionally and creatively about affordable housing.  It was rich time – thanks again Tiffany!
